Terms of Service
The rules that apply when you use this website and its decision tool.
The short version
This website offers a free general-purpose utility that picks one option at random from a list you enter. It is a convenience tool for everyday choices, not advice and not a certified randomness service. Use it sensibly, do not misuse the site, and understand that the outcome of any decision you make remains yours.
1. Acceptance of terms
These terms apply to your use of this website and everything on it, including the Random Decision Maker tool. By opening the site and using it, you accept these terms as they are written on the day you visit.
If you do not agree with any part of them, the appropriate response is simply not to use the site. There is no account to close and nothing to cancel, so you can stop at any moment by leaving the page.
2. Use of the website
The site is free to use and open to anyone. You do not need to register, sign in, or provide personal information in order to use the decision tool.
You may use the tool for personal purposes, and you may use it at work or in a group setting, for example to decide turn order in a meeting or to settle a choice among colleagues. You do not need our permission for ordinary use of this kind.
We may add, change or remove features at any time, and we may reorganise or update the content on the site without notice.
3. How the tool works
The Random Decision Maker is a general-purpose utility designed to help you make random choices. You enter a list of options, the tool selects one of them at random, and it shows you the result. That is the entirety of what it does.
The selection runs inside your own browser using the random number generator your browser provides. Every option in your list is treated as an equal position with an equal chance of being drawn, and each round is independent of the ones before it, which means the same option can come up more than once in a row.
This is randomness suitable for everyday decisions. It is not a certified or audited randomness service, and it must not be relied on for gambling, lotteries, prize draws with legal requirements, examinations, contract allocation, or any other situation where money, fairness obligations or legal consequences depend on the outcome. If your situation calls for verifiable randomness, use a properly audited method instead.
4. Your responsibilities
The tool produces a random selection. It does not know what your options mean, whether they are wise, or what will happen once you act on one. Deciding whether to follow the result is entirely your choice, and the consequences of that choice are yours.
In particular, you are responsible for:
- deciding whether a random pick is appropriate for the question at hand;
- reviewing the result before acting on it, and ignoring it if you would rather not follow it;
- the content of the options you enter, including anything you share with others;
- seeking qualified advice where a decision has legal, financial, medical or safety implications, rather than delegating it to a random draw.
Because the options you type stay in your browser, you should also use ordinary judgement about what you enter on a shared or public computer.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use this site in ways that damage it or interfere with other people’s use of it. Specifically, you agree not to:
- attempt to break, disable, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or any connected system;
- use automated tools to scrape, harvest or bulk-download the site, or to send requests at a rate that burdens it;
- copy the site or a substantial part of it in order to publish a competing version;
- introduce malicious code, or use the site to distribute it;
- use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes the rights of others;
- misrepresent the site as your own, or claim an association with it that does not exist;
- remove, obscure or interfere with any notices displayed on the site.
We may restrict or block access where use of this kind is detected.
6. Intellectual property
The design, layout, written content, name, logo and code of this website belong to the site owner and are protected by copyright and other applicable rights. You may not copy, republish or redistribute substantial parts of the site without permission.
You are welcome to link to any page here, to quote a short passage with attribution, and to use screenshots when writing about or reviewing the tool. Ordinary personal use of the tool itself, including sharing a result with friends or colleagues, needs no permission at all.
The options you type into the tool are yours. We do not receive them, store them or claim any rights over them.
7. Third-party links
Some pages may link to other websites, and advertisements displayed on this site lead to destinations we do not control. Those links are provided for convenience and do not amount to an endorsement of the content, products or practices you will find there.
Once you leave this site, these terms no longer apply. The terms and policies of the site you arrive at govern your use of it, and we are not responsible for its content, accuracy or availability.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the site online and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The site may be unavailable at times because of maintenance, hosting problems, network faults, updates, or circumstances outside our control.
We may also change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site, including the tool, at any time and without prior notice. Since the service is free and requires no account, no refund or transition arrangement applies.
9. Accuracy limitations
The explanatory content on this site, including the FAQ pages and descriptions of how random selection behaves, is provided for general information. We try to keep it correct and up to date, but we do not warrant that every statement is complete, current or free from error.
The tool itself depends on your browser and device. If your browser blocks scripts, is out of date, or behaves unexpectedly, the tool may not function as described. Results shown on screen should be read as what they are: the output of a simple random selection, with no meaning beyond that.
10. Disclaimer
This website and the Random Decision Maker are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. This includes any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Nothing on this site is advice. The tool does not provide professional, legal, financial, medical, psychological or safety guidance, and a random result is not a recommendation. It is a convenience for choices where any of the available options would be acceptable to you.
This is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any company, institution or official body, and we make no claim to represent one.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the site owner is not liable for any loss or damage arising out of your use of this website or your reliance on anything it produces. This includes indirect, incidental, consequential or special losses, loss of data, loss of profit, and any loss connected with a decision you made after using the tool.
The site is offered free of charge, and the tool is a simple utility rather than a professional service. Where liability cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you, it is limited to the minimum extent that law permits.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here is intended to limit rights you hold that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the site develops, for example if features change or new services are added. When that happens, the revised version replaces this one on this page and the date at the top is updated.
Continuing to use the site after a change means the current version applies to your use of it. We recommend checking this page occasionally if the details matter to you.
13. Contact
If anything here is unclear, or you have a question about how you may use the site, please write to us through our contact page.
